'Droplets of Sky' Choker by BorosilicateArachnid 'Droplets of Sky' Choker by BorosilicateArachnid
This is what I've been working on the past few days...*pant, pant*...But now it's done, so enjoy!

This is a 15" choker of Half Persian 3-in-1 Sheet 6 with Sodalite beads. The wire is a clear-enamelled copper and the closest match I could find for a clasp was a gold plated tube clasp (The colors are quite similar).

The stats:
18 awg Clear EC
7/32" mandrel
Upwards of 750 rings
Weight: 3.9oz

Matching bracelet and probably earrings to follow.

I had been looking for the piece that inspired the split band and "trapped" stone, and it took me a while to find, but here it is [link] Thank you for the inspiration :iconerinightwind:!

I saw this and absolutely adored it. I take it a piece like this is already probably sold and gone though. :(

Just out of curiosity, how much does it cost to make something like that? Very pretty, I always love the look of sodalite and reddish colors. :)

Dang, I can't believe I haven't replied here yet. Anyhow...

That is absolutely mind bogling mate! You used the lovely HP sheet 6 in a beautiful way, and I think this is one of the best non-flat weave twists that I have seen. And the stone choice! It is very lovely and not overdone in the amount of stones. I cannot wait to see the bracelet and earings set should you do them. B-)

Thank you. I am something of a metals purist...I'd almost rather do pieces in nothing but metal with a central cab, but I'll put in stones where they fit nicely. The local Michaels is still out of this wire...I don't know when they will be restocking, but I expect the bracelet to be a thinner version of the central band and I am not too sure what to do for the earrings yet

Oh, this is really fantastic. The colors match well (something that doesn't always happen in chainmail) the pattern is well balanced, it's got this lovely sinuous shape to it... I have to say, I'm impressed.

I think this is a compliment....:lmao: The choker has already been pu out to stud and the bracelet baby is expected in a few days (As soon as I can get more wire...I bought out every Michaels in the general area of this type and gauge. Thanks!

Wow, my typing was atrocious...it should say "put out to stud" and I missed the closing parenthesis after the word gauge.

That is a very fun design. I've seen pieces that braid bits of chain, but this is the first I've seen that just has a weave split in two and braided for a focal piece. I like it because it looks like an eye.

I was thinking of something like "tears of sky" for the name because of that, but droplets sounded cheerier.

As for the design, it kind of just happened while I was working on the piece. =)

The whole "I have never made a HP3-in-1 based sheet weave before" didn't make it go any faster...

Very nice! The beads will stand out even more with the patina in a while.

Well, technically it won't patina unless somebody wears it until the enamel flakes off the copper.
